Accompaniment, Book I

From the performance notes:

Accompaniment, Book I was composed using automatic writing practices applied to the listening of John Cage’s Music of Changes. Conga pitches are notated on the spaces of the staff from lowest to highest drum. Pitches in this piece, are exact; durations of pitches are not exact, though they are notated spatially. Time is a function of continuous space where 1 SYSTEM = 7.5 INCHES = 5”. Many pitch clusters are rather difficult, if not impossible, to execute, in which case performers should play as many notes as possible. Dynamics, playing techniques, and other variables of performance are left to be determined by the player not in rehearsal, but spontaneously during performance.
