The ninth work in 2014’s 100 Poems project. Text by E. E. Cummings.
The notation for this work is unique in that is features arrows representing inhalations and exhalations. All text is whispered on one of these two kinds of breaths. Timbre and dynamics are also indicated.
From the performance notes:
All inhalations and exhalations should take place on slow, deep breaths, unless otherwise noted. There should be slight pauses (ca. 1-2″) between gestures where the performer either holds the breath (after an inhalation) or waits to inhale (after an exhalation). All text is to be whispered, except in the cases where voiced speech is required. At all the times, the performer is to maintain an air of erotic tension.
