A setting of the poem a fragrant sag of fruit distinctly grouped, by E. E. Cummings; no 37. of 2015’s 100 Poems.
The work consists of 9 individual melodic lines with text. These melodies have no assigned rhythms, dynamics, or any other parameters other than pitch (which itself is slightly indeterminate, as the pitches can be sung in any octave, provided the note-to-note relationships are maintained.
The nine performers are to be scattered throughout the performance space. Each performer may begin and end his/her melody at his/her discretion. The overlapping/timing of parts is indeterminate, as is, therefore, the duration of the work.
