No. 93 of 2015’s 100 Poems.
A setting of two of E. E. Cummings’ eponymous poems.
You may note that I previously set this fear is no longer dear when I composed the other guineahen/this fear is no longer dear You are not going to American and, choosing two combine the two poems because their textual content is similar. The similarities between you are not going to,dear and this fear is no longer dear go further in this piece as the former poem contains the entirety of the text of the latter. Therefore is made sense to use the latter as an echo.
you are not going to,dear is spoken by a man in his 20s or 30s. this fear is no longer dear is spoken by the young man’s actual grandfather (preferably in his 70s or 80s or older). In this piece, it seems the old man is looking back at his younger self commenting on his actions using his former words. The poems overlap and weave in and out of each other, adding to the flashback effect.
